Stopover, Layover difference

A layover is a broad term that means any connection between flights. This could include a stop as short as 30 minutes or as long as four hours (or up to 23 hours and 59 minutes on international flights). Airline crew use this term, slightly differently. For them, a layover means an overnight stay while a connection refers to a shorter stop, but for fliers and travel providers, it's ok to use these two terms interchangeably.

A stopover can be a layover, but it can also be a much longer stop — often a second destination on part of a multi-stop itinerary. If traveling domestically, a stopover typically qualifies as anything that lasts longer than four hours. So if you fly from Palm Springs to Dallas/Ft. Worth and on to New York, and you have a domestic connection of longer than four hours, that is called a stopover.

When traveling internationally, a stopover refers to a stay that lasts longer than 24 hours. Savvy frequent fliers know that they can build in extended or even overnight stops at many hub cities like London, Paris, or Amsterdam, and not get charged additional miles as long as they leave within 24 hours to their final destination, thereby avoiding a stopover. 7 hours long transit in LAX

This #LayoverStory is by far one of our most memorable one. Priya and hubby Sathiyan were on their way home to Singapore from Mexico with a 12 hours layover in Los Angeles. It was Sthiyan's birthday and so Priya contacted us to reserve See it all in a Convertible sightseeing tour (on of our summer seasonal tours). We prepared the car with birthday balloons and waited for the couple outside LAX United terminal. Sathiyan was so surprised he couldn't believe his eyes (and we have the video to prove it) :).

Thanks to the creative, thoughtful and beautiful wife who conspired with us to transform a rather dreadful transit at the airport to a fantastic surprise. This day in LA was a success #MissionAccomplished

What to do on a long stopover in Los Angeles (LAX)?

Los Angeles is huge! There is a lot to see and do in the city of angels. And i'm not referring to the typical sights like the Hollywood Sign or the Celebrity Home tours in Beverly Hills ....

Because of how spread-out LA is, one can easily spend the entire day getting from one place to the other. L.A's public transportation system is outdated and poorly connected. People visiting from abroad find it hard to commute in the city and end up using commercial tour buses that run on schedule and are very 'impersonal'.

Luckily, There is a better way to see L.A. Granted, you have to see the major landmarks. We get it. But wouldn't be nice to see the city from a local perspective?
